Dream of travelling to Antarctica?

Antarctica, relentlessly inhospitable, majestically beautiful a landscape like no other. Owned by the penguins, seals, walruses, oceans of whales and krill, the skies dominated by indomitable birds is the magnet for the daring. As a result, intrepid travellers want to voyage to the Falklands, South Shetlands and Antarctic Peninsula. And, indeed Tierra del Fuego in Argentina is a good starting point. Our travels are in stark contrast to the heroics of Scott, Shackleton & Amundsen. Nevertheless, visiting the Antarctic can be the impetus one needs to protect this planet. For this reason, ‘leave only footprints, take nothing and leave nothing’ from this pristine landscape. This icy continent needs to be protected by scientific study and low-impact tourism as outlined by the British Antarctic Survey run by Cambridge University and the Antarctic Treaty.
